RPD Vaktari Hub shows the Vaktari Machine of several machines on a single page. Each machine has a tile, and inside the tile is its whole dashboard, shrunk to fit: the state, the counters, the timeline and everything else.
The Hub reads no files and calculates nothing. Each tile is a window onto the Vaktari Machine running on that machine's computer, and everything you see in it is explained in the Vaktari Machine manual. This manual only covers what belongs to the Hub itself.
| Vaktari Hub | Vaktari Live Counters | |
|---|---|---|
| What it shows of each machine | the whole Machine dashboard: state, availability, stops, errors and output | the lot counter and the state, in large figures |
| What it suits best | following a handful of machines in detail from a computer | a wall monitor read from a distance, with target alerts |
| What it needs | Vaktari Machine running on each machine | access to each machine's folder |
The Hub has no program of its own and no black window: it is a page you open directly.
vaktari_hub.html, or the shortcut that points to it. It opens in the browser.The Hub only displays. For a tile to have content, Vaktari Machine must be started on that machine's computer, and the computer you are looking from must be able to reach it over the network.
Each dashboard updates by itself, just as when Machine is opened directly. In addition, the Hub checks every 30 seconds whether each machine responds; when one that was not responding comes back, its tile reloads by itself.
You can have several Hubs, for example one per type of machine. Each one is a folder with its own machine list and title, and is opened with its own vaktari_hub.html.
The browser remembers the language, the theme and the number of columns.
It means the Hub cannot reach that machine's Vaktari Machine: the computer is off, Machine is not started or the network does not reach it. The other tiles are not affected. Nothing needs doing in the Hub: it tries again every 30 seconds and, when the machine comes back, the tile reloads by itself.
In the grid, the dashboards are shrunk and the small text is hard to read. Enlarge puts one machine across the whole window, at real size, to look at it calmly or work on it: change tabs, choose dates, export. To go back, use Back to grid or the Esc key.
If what you want is to keep a machine open separately, use the button that opens it in a new tab.
With Columns you choose how many tiles there are in each row. The fewer the columns, the larger each dashboard looks and the further you have to scroll to see them all. The number is remembered for each Hub separately.
The language and theme you choose in the Hub header are applied to every tile at once, so the whole screen looks the same.
Which machines are shown, under what name and in what order is set by the file maquines_hub.js, in the same folder as the Hub. It opens with Notepad. Editing it is a job for whoever administers the installation.

{ name: "Line 3", url: "http://192.168.1.43:8761" }
]
};
| Line | What it is |
|---|---|
title | the title of this Hub, exactly as written. Empty (""), no title is shown. |
columns | the columns it opens with the first time, from 1 to 4. After that, whatever is chosen in the header applies. |
viewWidth, viewHeight | the size, in pixels, at which each dashboard is drawn before being shrunk. With a lower value, text looks larger and less content fits. |
pingSeconds | how often, in seconds, each machine is checked |
machines | one line per machine: name is the name shown on the tile and url, the address of its Vaktari Machine |
localhost only works for a machine on that same computer; the others need their network address.Copy the whole Hub folder under another name and change its maquines_hub.js: the title and the machine list. The four files in the folder (vaktari_hub.html, maquines_hub.js, i18n_hub.js and vaktari_theme.css) must always stay together.
It shows the version of the Hub, in bold. The Vaktari Machine version of each machine is in the footer of its dashboard: to see it, enlarge the tile and scroll to the end. They are two different versions, and if you have to report an issue it is worth noting both.
| What happens | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A tile says No response | that machine's computer is off, Vaktari Machine is not started on it or the network does not reach it | Check that the machine's computer is on and that Machine is running. The Hub tries again by itself. |
| Every tile says No response | the computer you are looking from is not on the machines' network, or the addresses do not work from here | Check the network. If the Hub was copied from another computer, review the addresses that use localhost. |
| It says Connected but the tile is blank | the dashboard is still loading, or stopped halfway | Click the tile's reload button. If it stays the same, open it in a new tab to see what it says. |
| No machines defined | the list is empty, or the machines file has an error and cannot be read | Check maquines_hub.js: commas and quotation marks. See section 7. |
| I changed the machines file and nothing changes | the browser still has the old file | Reload the page with Ctrl + F5. |
| A tile does not change language or theme | that machine has an old Vaktari Machine, which does not understand the Hub's instruction | That machine's Machine has to be updated. Tell whoever did the installation. |
| The text in the dashboards is too small | there are too many columns for the size of the screen | Choose fewer Columns, or enlarge the machine you want to look at. |
| Only the top part of each dashboard is visible | the tile shows a fixed height of the dashboard | Scroll inside the tile with the mouse wheel, or enlarge it. |
| The Hub comes up with no colours or layout | a file is missing from the folder | Check that the four files listed in section 7 are there. |
| Two Hubs share language and theme | they are browser preferences, common to every Hub | This is intended. The columns are remembered for each Hub. |
If you have to report an issue, note the version of the Hub and that of the Machine of the affected machine, and take a screenshot of the whole screen.
